Most challenges with horses result from a lack of knowledge. Even our fear is a survival mechanism telling us we need more knowledge, but where do we get it?!

Karen Scholl Horsemanship for Women is a program that examines the natural behavior patterns of women, men, horses, dogs and kids in a way that?s fun, informative, and most importantly empowers women to make the adjustments in their behavior to create change in their life.

3-DAY leadership / confidence / trust CLINIC
Foundation / LEADERSHIP

What are the qualities of a true leader? They're NOT controlling, demanding, micro-managing, manipulative, coercive, bribing, whimpy, or even dominant. Horses are naturally attracted humans posessing the true qualities of leadership; those who have an idea an are skilled at communicating that idea to others in a way that invites a willingness to participate rather than being forced to comply.
Advancing / CONFIDENCE

As leadership skills are established, it's important to advance our skills to build more confidence. Most people have a level of confidence until conditions change. By advancing our skills, our confidence will expand to handle even the unexpected or unforseen situations.
Progressing / TRUST

With the strong foundation of leadership and expanded confidence, the next natural stage is a progression towards trust. Every relationship can be measured by the level of trust between two individuals. By challenging the skills first established in the leadership and confidence stages, a much deeper level of trust emerges as we further strengthen that special bond with our horse.

Karen's unique clinic format is designed to provide the most effective learning experience over three full days. As Karen describes it, ?Beginning first with a short lecture, the principles of horsemanship are explained and techniques described and practiced before we even get out to the horses! New skills are already forming within the first hour.?

Participants with horses are grouped into similar abilities, foundation, advancing and progressing.

Participants without a horse (auditors) have just as much access to the learning structure, but without the hands-on practice and live coaching from Karen. Many people have a strong visual / audible learning preference and learn quite effectively by observing all day. Everyone participates equally, whether you?re inside the arena or not.

We will be auditing the first day of her clinic. The first day we will learn about leadership when working with horses. As the club organizer I will make the arrangements and handle purchasing tickets. Please watch the message board for various updates regarding the details for this event. If you are currently not a paying club member you can wait until our meeting on May 5th to decide if you wish to truly be a member and to sign up for this event. However fees for the clinic are currently discounted for early sign up, so the the fee will increase as the event draws near. I am charging a handling fee for the tickets. This fee covers the the costs for the tickets, the purchasing arrangements, and also travel expenses. We will meet at my house early in the morning and carpool up to Flagstaff. The clinic starts at 9am and is over at 5pm. We can either come straight home, or we can stop for dinner along the way. I've selected the first day of her clinic for us to go to so that if any of us are interested in attending the remaining two days we can maybe then make proper arrangements to do so. If anyone has any questions or comments about the event please contact me. And please remember to regularly check the message board for updates and various details.

What a great clinic! Karen has a wonderful teaching method and is an expert in horse behavior. We had a perfect day watching the clinic at a very nice facility. I'm so glad Sarah found this clinic and arranged the meeting. I can't wait to try the new techniques with my horse!
